Elevate Your Freedom — Redefine Adventure with the PHI SOLA GT

When your adventures demand more durability, enhanced versatility, and the same effortless handling of a lightweight wing, the PHI SOLA GT steps in as your ultimate solution. Building on the success of the original PHI SOLA, the GT version is crafted for those who want a wing that can handle more terrain, more usage, and more diverse flying conditions—without losing the safety and simplicity that made the original so beloved.

PHI’s approach to progression is clear: more freedom without more complexity. Therefore, the SOLA GT is designed for pilots who need a reliable, inclusive, and ready-for-anything glider. Whether you’re a beginner who wants a rugged wing or a hike-and-fly explorer searching for durability over long missions, the SOLA GT was built with you in mind.

What Sets the PHI SOLA GT Apart?

Engineered by the legendary Hannes Papesh and the PHI team, the SOLA GT stands as a bold evolution of the ultralight class. While retaining the user-friendly behavior of the original SOLA, it uses more robust materials, making it significantly more durable for frequent flyers, school environments, and pilot progression beyond basic training.

From its forgiving flight dynamics to its responsive handling and reliable inflation characteristics, the SOLA GT doesn’t just fill a niche—it leads it.

Built for Confidence — Trusted by Beginners and Beyond

EN A Safety with Real-World Performance

The PHI SOLA GT offers EN A certification across its size range, meaning it is suitable for training and new pilot environments. However, unlike many beginner wings that sacrifice performance, the SOLA GT integrates the DNA of PHI’s higher-class wings. Consequently, it provides the stability new pilots need with the glide and control experienced pilots appreciate.

Moreover, with calm pitch behavior, excellent roll stability, and trustworthy collapse resistance, the SOLA GT allows you to grow into your wing rather than outgrow it too quickly.

PHI SOLA GT Smooth Learning Curve, Exciting Progression

Whether you’re just discovering thermals or logging your first 100 hours, the SOLA GT gives you more headroom than the average entry-level glider. It adapts as you gain skill and confidence, which reduces the need to upgrade prematurely. That makes it not only a safer investment—but a smarter one too.

PHI SOLA GT Durability That Expands Your Horizons

Heavier Materials, Extended Life

The “GT” in SOLA GT stands for “Grand Touring,” which speaks volumes. This wing is tailored for pilots who want a more robust canopy and reinforced components—essential for frequent takeoffs, rougher terrain, and extended use in varying weather.

Furthermore, the slightly heavier material used in the SOLA GT improves longevity and wing integrity. This makes it a top choice for travelers, instructors, or pilots seeking a one-wing quiver that can go the distance—literally and figuratively.

Still Compact, Always Efficient

Even with stronger fabric, the SOLA GT packs down remarkably well, especially compared to other gliders in the same durability class. Because PHI’s folding design and canopy architecture remain lightweight at the core, you get a wing that performs like an ultralight but handles like a workhorse.

As a result, it’s ideal for pilots who don’t want to compromise on packability while still needing more protection and ruggedness than the featherweight SOLA offers.

PHI SOLA GT Effortless Handling and Accessible Control

Launch, Fly, Land — Seamlessly

True to PHI form, the SOLA GT is incredibly easy to inflate and control, even in light or crosswind conditions. The canopy rises evenly, without tendency to overshoot or fall back. This behavior gives newer pilots confidence and makes ground handling sessions smoother and more productive.PHI SOLA GT

Once airborne, the wing continues to impress. It remains pitch-neutral and responsive without becoming twitchy. In addition, brake pressure is finely tuned—light enough for long flights, yet firm enough for precise turns and thermaling.

Landings That Feel Like Second Nature

As your flight comes to an end, the SOLA GT supports you all the way to the ground. The flare window is wide and forgiving. Additionally, the wing retains energy well, which helps pilots make smooth landings, even in tight or uneven landing fields.PHI SOLA GT

An Inclusive Wing for Every Body and Goal

Sized for All, Ready for Everyone

PHI is known for inclusive sizing, and the SOLA GT continues that tradition. Offered in multiple sizes from XS to XL, this wing accommodates pilot weights between 50 and 145 kg. So whether you’re lightweight, tall, compact, or heavier-built, there’s a SOLA GT tuned for your flying profile.

Because every pilot deserves the same quality and performance, PHI made sure the safety and handling characteristics remain consistent across the size range.

Adaptable to Multiple Flight Styles

Although ideal for hike-and-fly, the SOLA GT also suits travel flying, training schools, tandem-style ground practice, and leisure XC adventures. Whether you’re staying local or chasing thermals in new countries, the SOLA GT keeps up with your rhythm.

Engineered by Experts, Loved by the Sky

Legacy of Hannes Papesh Innovation

At the heart of the SOLA GT is the same design brilliance that powers every PHI wing. Hannes Papesh, the mind behind the glider, has built a legacy of safe, progressive, and performance-balanced wings. Under his guidance, PHI continues to produce world-class equipment grounded in decades of research and real pilot feedback.

Thanks to this leadership, the SOLA GT offers flight characteristics that feel natural, comforting, and empowering from the first inflation onward.

PHI SOLA GT — Go Further, Fly Freer

If you want a glider that supports your growth, handles adventure with grace, and stays with you beyond the basics, the PHI SOLA GT is it. From its rugged build to its elegant flight behavior, this wing is built to help you rise above—safely, confidently, and comfortably.

Whether you’re starting your paragliding journey, returning to the sport, or simply needing a trustworthy companion in more dynamic environments, the SOLA GT proves you don’t have to choose between safety and excitement.

SOLA GT: SIMPLY GT!

The robust evolution of PHI’s superlight and supereasy low A wing: the SOLA. A new cloth is less expensive and more robust for tough training hill use and much more…

PHI SOLA GT Technical Features

The SOLA has it’s roots in the FANTASIA, but finally was designed absolutely new: different ground shape, cell with distribution, intake, diagonal ribs, etc
PHI spend some tome to improve take off behaviour: never before launch was that easy!

As well PHI realized to the goal that it really fun to fly the SOLA and the performance is good!
and it’s fast!: an absolute must in the high mountains! When flying in alpine valleys or all above the peaks: speed is the base for safety.PHI SOLA GT

A special technical feature is, that the SOLA has a very stable 3 suspension airfoil in the centre, offering her an extra stability bonus.
With the SOLA GT PHI are further on the trend to robust, covered lines in all sections in chosing a robust cloth.
Specially at take off in free alpine area, you need an equipment you can trust and that is easy to handle.PHI SOLA GT

Designer’s note

“We more and more gain the technology to make flying very easy. The SOLA offers a new level of simplicity. Takeoff, flying, landing has never before been that simple. Flying is now a normal activity that anyone can do, like a walk in the park.
On top ot the SOLA, the SOLA GT offers a new level of robustness for light. You can hike and take your wing on the harsh take offs of south europe or to every other adventure.”

– Hannes Papesh

Weight ranges

Like the bigger sister VIOLA, the SOLA GT has extended weight ranges, offering more energy.

Compared to the VIOLA, the SOLA GT is all around more easy and the roll damping is much better.

PHI SOLA GT FOR SCHOOLING

There’s no glider easier to train with than the SOLA GT. No glider is as forgiving of mistakes on take-off: the wing inflates reliably, climbs well and stops itself over the pilot’s head. The braking distance is enormous: a stall is virtually impossible. However, the reaction to brake input is good and direct: the SOLA GT turns extremely flat, i.e. without accumulating energy. Roll damping is unrivalled: the wing flies as if on rails.PHI SOLA GT

IN THERMAL FLIGHT

In the thermal weight range, the SOLA GT is very well damped on all axes: it turns well flat, gives only the necessary feedback and always stands reliably above the pilot. Both in and out of the thermal, pitching backwards or forwards remains very low.PHI SOLA GT

PHI SOLA GT FOR HIKE&FLY

Thanks to its light weight and super-simple handling, the SOLA GT is the perfect machine for Hike&Fly. Its qualities are particularly appreciated in difficult terrain and demanding conditions.

AS MINIWING

An even higher wing loading makes the SOLA GT a miniwing. Power is a little higher, but still very easy to control. Its unique roll damping makes it very precise to control in all areas.

Risers

  • Standard: R10 (3+1)
  • Options: RZ1 (3), R01 (3+1)

You are free to customize and choose another riser free of charge but this will delay your order by 3-7 days. If saving every gram is your top priority, you may choose the “Superlight” RZ3 riser. This reduces the weight on the tech data list by around 250-285g but compromises usability and increases speed system pressure.
